Collections

A collection as a way of looking

Collections are not rigid categories. They create routes through the work and show how one concern changes from painting to painting. Colour may dominate one series and remain quiet in another; material can be dense, transparent or almost graphic. This context supports comparison without reducing each work to a label.

You may enter a collection through its subject or simply through the feeling it creates. Works vary in dimensions, technique and availability. Each remains autonomous and can live in an interior without being acquired as part of a complete series.

Comparing related works

When several paintings seem suitable, compare scale, orientation and colour temperature. Vertical works can accompany narrow spaces, while horizontal compositions can organise a broad wall. Viewing distance matters too: texture and small gestures behave differently from close up and across a room.

A private selection may combine works from several collections. With photographs of the space, the gallery can explain practical differences in format, framing and installation.

Open collections

Some collections grow as new work continues an investigation; others close when a series reaches its form. This keeps the catalogue alive while every artwork page continues to show current availability.
